If you have ever looked in the mirror and felt like your eyebrows are too thin or sparse, then you are not alone. Many people struggle with this issue. There's a number of reasons why your brows may be thin or thinning, including over-plucking, age, and genetics. The good news is that there are a number of ways to fix thin eyebrows. From brow pencils to microblading, you can achieve the fuller, thicker eyebrows of your dreams. Keep reading for 7 tips on how to fix thin eyebrows!
Here is some brow advice before we get into the tips:
Don't freak out
It is easy to get caught up in the idea that your eyebrows are not perfect but remember that everyone's eyebrows are different. There are no such thing as perfect brows, so try to relax and accept that your eyebrows are just the way they are supposed to be.
Accept that they're not perfect
Which leads into the second tip: accept that your eyebrows are not perfect. Just like everyone else, you may have to live with imperfect eyebrows. This does not mean that you cannot have beautiful, full eyebrows, but it does mean that you should not expect them to be Instagram perfect.
Don't overdo it
One of the most common mistakes people make when trying to fix their thin eyebrows is that they overdo it. They either use too much product or they try to draw their brows in too thick. This can result in an unnatural sharpie look that is not flattering. If you are unsure, it is always better to be cautious and go for a more natural look.
Here are six tips for fixing thin eyebrows:
- Apply a brow growth serum
- Darken the brow hair you already have
- Fill them in with a brow pencil
- Shape your brows with a gel
- Shape your brows with a laminate
- Seek salon services
Apply a brow growth serum
If you want to grow thicker, fuller eyebrows, then you need to start using a brow growth serum. This type of serum is specifically designed to help eyebrows grow in thicker and fuller. Just apply to your eyebrows once a day, usually at night, and you should start seeing results in a few weeks.
There are many different brow serums on the market, so it's important to choose one that is right for you. Experiment with different brands and make sure to read the reviews and ingredient list before purchasing. Consistency is key here, so make sure to stick with it for the long-haul.
Darken the brow hairs you already have
Often times your brows aren’t thin, they are just lightly colored. Darkening the hair with a tint or colorant may be all you need for full brows. The good part is eyebrow tints are much easier to apply than traditional hair color, but are much longer lasting than a brow pencil, and waterproof.
We have already written a guide on everything you need to know about eyebrow tinting HERE for your reference.
Fill them in with a brow pencil
Speaking of brow pencils, brow pencils are a type of makeup that can be used to fill in your eyebrows. They come in a variety of colors and can be used to create a natural-looking brow. Many brow pencils also have a built-in brush, which can be used to comb and shape the brows.
If you're interested in using a brow pencil, then you'll need to choose the right color. The color should match your natural hair color and possibly go a shade darker for a bolder appearance. We would recommend brow pencils be used to fill in small patches, rather than completely shaping the full brow
Shape your brows with a gel
What is an eyebrow gel?
Brow gels work in a similar way to hair gels but are usually stronger. Gels can be used to place hairs into position and keep them there for the day. They are usually clear, however tinted brow gels are becoming popular as they make the brows look fuller.
Simply apply the gel onto a spoolie and comb your brows into place. Gels can also come in bar form, but the application method is the same.
We would recommend Tint & Curl as a great place to start with brow gels and lashes too.
Seek salon services
Often times, it's just best to leave it to the professionals. Salon services for brows have been huge lately but may prove to be a costly option. The most popular salon options for brows are tinting, microblading, lamination, shaping, and waxing (not recommended for small brows, obviously)
To make brows seem fuller, laminating creates a similar look to a brow gel, but will last a week or so. Microblading is a great way to fake a fuller brow, but is the most expensive option
